Shree Charani has followed India's Asia Cup and Asian Games successes with the highest T20I bowling rating ever reported. The revealing companion to that individual achievement is India's position in our women's T20 team ratings: third. Her record peak belongs to a side that still has opponents to overcome.

The reported 817 points answers the historical comparison precisely: no previous T20I bowler's peak has been higher. That deserves its full weight. We would reserve the broader judgement of greatest ever for sustained achievement; Shree Charani has established the peak against which that argument will now be made.

India still have room above them

Our ratings place India third among women's T20 teams, worth 40.3 runs a match more than an average side. That is a strong collective benchmark for the setting in which Shree Charani is succeeding. She is part of a formidable team, with a rating that rewards her individually beyond anything previously reached.

The distinction matters when judging her recent form. Her rising rating and India's trophies support the acclaim together. India's position also gives that acclaim a useful direction: their record-breaking bowler should be central to the attempt to climb further.

The margins need their opponents

India's recent T20 results include victory over Hong Kong by 137 runs and over Thailand by 94 runs. Against Sri Lanka, the winning margin was 72 runs. Those are emphatic results, and they make the celebration around this side easy to understand.

They are team victories, though. Turning those margins into a verdict on Shree Charani's bowling would give her credit for everything India did. Her individual rating carries the personal claim.

Where the record must count

India also lost to South Africa by six wickets and Australia by six wickets in their recent T20 matches. Those opponents give the record peak its competitive purpose.

We want Shree Charani leading India's effort to turn those contests. Sustaining a historic peak while helping overcome the sides that have beaten India is the next standard she should be asked to meet.
