The ground
Laid out as the Garrison Ground in 1854 and named the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1894, it held its first Test in February 1882.
Its square is Bulli soil rather than a drop-in pitch, which has long made it the most spin-friendly of Australia's Test grounds.
